furniture flip starter kit!

Want to know what you need to get started on your first furniture flip? I gotchu!

Here are some of my most used & recommended items.

painters tool

This tool is definitely one of my most used items! I use it for almost every project. I use it to scrape off old paint when stripping a piece and to open up a tin of paint. You can even use it to open a Topo Chico, or a bottle of beer if you’re into that! The pointed edges make it easy to get into hard-to-reach places. It’s a cheap tool that you will use all the time. What’s not to love?'

graco paint sprayer

This tool is on the pricier side, but worth it if you paint often. It’s easy to use and easy to clean once you get the hang of it. It gives a flawless finish within minutes, versus hours of hand painting. This isn’t a necessity, you can still use a good ol’ roller or paint brush, but it’s a true time saver. Less time spent painting = more time to spend on other projects = MORE MONEY FASTER. It’s just science!

dolly’s

These bad boys (or girls) are also a life saver… for my back. They make moving massive pieces of furniture alone, possible. What’s better than hearing your partner say “how the heck did you move that by yourself?” multiple times per week. Shhhhh don’t tell him it’s with the help of my dolly’s. LOL!

frog tape

Frog tape! The best painters tape on the market. I always used to use 3m Scotch tape (the blue one) but then I got my hands on this brand… and wow it’s so good! It’s just easier to use all around. Pro tip: use clear polyurethane over tape line prior to painting, it’ll ensure you have super clean paint lines with no bleed through!

aerosol primer

Okay, yes, it’s expensive compared to buying a plain ol’ gallon. But it’s WORTH IT! It’s such a time saver. A quick spritz of primer versus an hour of priming, using a foam roller, a paint liner, etc. It’s quick, efficient, and easy clean up. This is probably one of the best primers on the market to prevent bleed through (when dark colors show through into light paint).

paint brush

Last but not least, a paint brush! I used to be all about the .99 cent paint brushes from the dollar store. But once I got my hands on a quality paint brush, like Zibra’s, I could never go back! Virtually no brush strokes. But if you’re anything like me, you’ll forget to clean them and they’ll just become very expensive disposable paint brushes. So maybe don’t be like me, LOL!
